Does Cetetherm have a hybrid district heating substation?

Yes, Cetetherm offers a hybrid substation that can be integrated with other renewable energy sources and is designed to provide flexibility, energy efficiency, and CO₂ reduction.

Cetetherm Hybrid operates as a standard district heating substation until an additional heat source is connected. It is developed and designed to provide:

100% redundancy - safe, reliable, and efficient heat supply from the energy sources connected to the hybrid solution

Energy efficiency with low environmental impact and low operation costs

Low return temperature back to the district heating network, continuously monitored by a smart control unit

Sustainable integration with existing systems

Cetetherm Hybrid is a configurable and flexible district heating substation that efficiently operates with temperatures from waterborne heat sources such as district heating, heat pumps, and boiler solutions.

How does a hybrid heating system works?

A hybrid heating system is a combination of different heating technologies that together optimize energy efficiency and reduce operating costs in a house or building. This means it offers flexibility, allowing property owners to choose the energy source that is most cost-effective at any given time.

A hybrid heating system enables, with great advantage, a combination of different heat sources. The most common example is a combination of a heat pump and district heating.

What does a hybrid solution with district heating mean?

This means combining district heating with one or more other renewable heat sources. The aim is to create a flexible, energy-efficient, and cost-optimized heating system. District heating combined with a heat pump is the most common solution for hybrid heating.

How does a district cooling substation work?

District cooling substations are used to connect various types of buildings to the district cooling network. They operate on the same principle as district heating substations – but with cooling instead of heating.

Read about Cetetherm Maxi Cooling here.

What is district cooling?

District cooling means that chilled water is produced centrally and distributed through a network of pipes to various types of private and public properties and buildings.

The cooling is used for both comfort and process cooling.

What is the warranty period for a district heating substation?

The warranty period is 2 years unless otherwise agreed.

Contact our customer support for more information about our products and the warranty period.

What are the dimensions of a district heating substation?

The dimensions depend on which model you choose. Cetetherm offers everything from compact wall-mounted heat interface units to specially adapted district heating substations for large industries and hospitals.

On the product pages you will find product sheets containing dimensions of our standard substations.

If you would like more information, please contact our customer support.

What are the advantages of a district heating substation?
A district heating substation offers several advantages compared to other heating solutions:

          1.Energy-efficient and climate-smart
District heating is based on heat being produced centrally, often using surplus energy from industry or renewable sources. This results in a very high overall efficiency and low climate impact.

          2.Reliable and maintenance-free
A district heating substation requires minimal maintenance. No fuel handling is needed, and the system is reliable all year round.

          3. Cost-effective
Thanks to stable energy prices and low service costs, district heating is often the most economical choice in the long term.

          4. Space-saving
A district heating substation takes up little space and requires no chimney, oil tank, or fuel storage. This frees up valuable space in the building.

          5. Safe and quiet operation
The system is closed, with no combustion, which means a low risk of fire and no emissions inside the building. In addition, the unit operates quietly.

          6. Easy to integrate
Modern district heating substations can easily be connected to existing heating systems and controlled digitally for optimal energy efficiency.

A district heating substation from Cetetherm provides energy-efficient, reliable, and climate-smart heating. It requires minimal maintenance, takes up little space, and delivers both heating and domestic hot water with high comfort.
Thanks to smart controls and a high-quality design, you get a safe, quiet, and cost-effective energy solution that lasts over time.
      Is district heating environmentally friendly?

District heating generally has a low environmental impact, especially in Sweden where it is largely produced using renewable and recycled fuels.

About 90% of district heating in Sweden comes from biofuels, waste, surplus heat, and other renewable sources.

How long is the delivery time for a district heating substation?

Delivery times vary depending on whether you need a standard or specific customized district heating plant.

Contact our customer support for more information.

Does Cetetherm offer connectable district heating substations?

Our heat interface units for apartment and villas, Mini Retro P and Cetetherm Pioneer are both connectable and can be controlled and monitored in an app on your mobile phone.

With the app myUplink, you have the opportunity to monitor, control and optimize heating and hot water for both apartments, villas and larger properties - even remotely.

How can I get district heating installed in my house or property?

To find out if district heating can be installed at your property, contact your district heating provider.

Please note that a water-based heating system is required for installation.

What is the lifespan of a district heating substation?

With proper maintenance, a Cetetherm district heating plant can operate problem-free for over 20 years.

Normally, a simple check every two years is sufficient to ensure optimal operation.

What does a district heating substation cost?

The price varies, among other things, depending on how much heating capacity you need.

Cetetherm offers district heating substations for villas and apartments to properties, entire neighborhoods and communities.

To get an accurate price quote for your specific needs, contact our customer support.

What is a district heating network?

A district heating network is a system of pipes that transports hot water from a central heating plant to multiple buildings in an area. The water in the network is used to transfer heat energy—not consumed—and then circulates back to be reheated.

In each building, the district heating substation receives the hot water via heat exchangers, which transfer the energy to the building’s heating system and domestic hot water without mixing the network water with the internal system. Together, the district heating network and the substation form an efficient, reliable, and climate-smart system for heating homes and premises with minimal environmental impact.

What is a district heating substation?

District heating substations heat water for space heating, domestic hot water—or both—for buildings of various types and sizes.

They can be installed at multiple locations across an entire city district or within a small district heating network serving, for example, a smaller community.

      What is district heating?

District heating is a system for heating buildings by producing hot water centrally and distributing it through a network of pipes to households, businesses, and public buildings.

The heat is generated at a heating plant through recycling and combustion of materials such as biofuel and waste, or from surplus energy/waste heat from industries.

Where can I find the software to update my Heat Interface Unit?

Currently, only “Matrix” can be updated. The software can be found on myUplink for download.

For more information, contact our customer support.

Where are tap water systems used?

Our tap water systems are used wherever there is a collective need for a reliable and sustainable hot water supply with high capacity – in apartment buildings, hospitals, hotels, sports facilities, schools, and more.

Read here about Cetetherm´s Tap Water Systems

What is a tap water system?

A tap water system is the system in a building that manages drinking water and hot water to various outlets – such as taps, showers, kitchen sinks, and washbasins.
